JAMAYAH -
Adventures on the Path of Return

Trade Paperback: 393 pages

Date of Publication: 2005
ISBN: 0962343455

Publisher's Description: JAMAYAH - Adventures on the Path of Return, is a literary fiction novel marbleized with humor and blended with the realities of war and romance. Set against the Aquarian optimism and affluence that dawned the new millennium in 1995 San Diego and Tijuana, scientific, baby-boomer Bob Kramer has difficulty reconciling an uncharacteristic guru who mysteriously recruits him as an apprentice on a mystical path that transforms the common perception of reality through three initiations: empowering paranormal abilities, neutralizing self-importance, and realizing one's self as an immanent function of Spirit. Bob’s adventures include out-of-body flight, past-life realization, shamanic exorcism, soul-retrieval, techno-meditation, lucid dreaming, channeling spirit guides, and no-mind golf from a maverick Zen master.

EXCERPTS

Understand that life is all about galloping with reins of passion, but it depends on who we are when we gallop as to whether we are satisfied, complete, or realized during and at the end of our journey. Regardless of personal beliefs, from birth until death, the horses will gallop. Either we take the reins and gallop the horses or the horses break the reins and gallop us.

Don’t know how to tell you. I see things. I see things in the sky. I see things in the wind. I see things in the mind. Don’t know how to describe it to ya’. I just know. Jamayah, he’d explored and adventured every facet of the world, even studied in universities, I heard. And he was still lost. Just like you, he didn’t know what to do next, where he was goin’. He was like a compressed seed just waitin’ to grow and fulfill its destiny. When he met this Tanto, whatever his name, he came into his own being and mastery. Yeah, he was different after that. I don’t know who that Tanto was, but he had somethin’ powerful goin’ on.

Look child, either you’re real or the world’s real. Most people think the world’s real. Seeking validation from others is makin’ the world real. That, my child, is you robbin’ you of your own power. You make the world real and you won’t fly no more. But the world, it’s not real; it’s only what you make it. You’re the one who’s real. You gotta get that! Now, Naomi’s tired. You go on now, find your own way. Ol’ Naomi’s not goin’ anywhere, case you get the funny brains. Now go on child, let Naomi get some shut eye.

Leave the hatch doors open several inches, but do not leave the cabin. The open doors will allow the negative energy to easily escape and enough fresh air so you can breathe easily. Do not venture outside. You are too weak and vulnerable. Your presence in the harbor environment may jeopardize the success of both the exorcism and the soul retrieval.
Eat and drink only what we have given you. Do not read or listen to the radio. We want you to rest for three days. The herbal mixture Naomi has given you will purify your body, make you drowsy, and extract evil influences.
Should you hear or see ghosts or unfriendly entities, firmly yell at them to leave immediately. Repeat the phrase ‘Go away now!’ three times. Should they not obey, take the skull in your hands and and while continuing to hold it, thrust it through their astral body, repeating the same words three more times.”
Well, color me terrified, I thought. It’s not enough that I’m dying and have astral entities and demons attached to my auric field sucking the life out of my immune system. Now I’ve got to beat the bastards off with a human skull.

Is intention evil just because it is personal and not the will of Spirit?
More to my liking is that intentions, will, and power are neutral. The course of action determines the value.
So, you don't believe in evil power.
No, I believe in evil deeds. The value of power is defined by the result of usage. When the use of power is life-enhancing, when it optimizes health, wisdom, integrity, freedom, and spiritual fullness of all concerned, it is benevolent. When the use of power is life-limiting, when it exploits, diminishes, or decreases the sentient being's options beyond that being's own measure of contribution, then it is evil.

When I golfed with Todo, I would blab on and on about my new magical feats of power. Todo was blatantly unimpressed. His traditional Zen view was that the enhancement of psychic powers was detrimental to mystical awareness. Ultimate control, amusement, and entertainment could only bloat self-glorification and subvert the ego into amplified delusions that inevitably would repress enlightenment. Made in America, my consciousness disagreed. Personal experience had informed me that Occidentals can greatly benefit from the psychic dimension as a sublime and effective bridge to enlightenment. Prone to the rational, logical, and mechanical dimension more than Orientals, rigidly held cognitive thought processes can be sabotaged by practice and personal experience of psychic powers and seduced into trusting the spiritual domain. However, Todo was not too far off base. It is far too easy to become absorbed with mysterious and magical powers and miss the boat of greater purpose of mystical union with Spirit. The more I tried to argue with Todo, while patient, the more he became thoroughly bored.

JAMAYAH - Adventures on the Path of Return provides a bonanza of gifts through an engaging story of spiritual awakening and personal development. What emerges is a beacon of ideas and lessons that will evoke questions, insights, and even transformations.... T.L. Orcutt has woven a magnificent tapestry, one that is more like a web from which readers will find hard to escape until they finish the final and most expository chapter.

Catherine Kitcho, Hot Lava! Book Reviews
A wonderful blend of contemporary fiction and metaphysics. Tag along as our forty-something narrator, Bob Kramer, unexpectedly encounters a series of spiritual mentors and guides as he recovers from a divorce and loss of his job through downsizing. Bob's journey takes place in San Diego and Mexico, where he meets an expanding web of spirits ready to nudge him along his way on the Path of Return.

It's a little bit like "The Celestine Prophecy", except with colorful characters, a plot, and a large dose of humor. Whether you are a metaphysical scholar or know nothing about it, you will enjoy this tale of an ordinary guy discovering a world that is not so ordinary. Guided by Jamayah, Bob goes through a series of "orientations" to learn his spiritual (and other) lessons. He finds out what it's like to be a homeless person, he becomes an unwilling participant in a seance, he undergoes past life regression and soul retrieval, he goes into deep meditations and trances, and even plays a little golf with a spirit guide. Once you start this book, you won't be able to put it down, except occasionally to ponder some of the book's profound insights. Bravo!

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT! Awakening in the Land of Human Beings
A work I was inspired to squeeze in before the sequel to JAMAYAH. This little paperback packs a wallop of clarity for conscious living, the alternative being to remain absorbed in the siege mentality promoted by big business, govern-ment, organized religion, the medical/pharmaceutical complex, and dramatized by an alarmist media that favors entertain-ment over accurate information.
